Chairperson — Information Commission
COMMISSIONER NENEH MACDOUALL-GAYE is a media professional and former government Minister and Ambassador. Her background includes significant leadership roles in government having served as Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister of Information, Communications and Infrastructure, Ambassador to the United States and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the second Republic. Prior to her cabinet appointments she had an impactful media career spanning nearly 30 years. She began her work at the national radio, Radio Gambia, and progressed to The Gambia’s first TV station, Gambia Radio and Television Services, (GRTS), where she rose through the ranks to become Deputy Director General. Her contributions to media also extended outside the National Broadcasting Service; she served as the Head of the Media Unit at the Worldview International Foundation whiles servicing as the Country Representative for The Netherlands Management Cooperation Programme, where she supported capacity-building efforts in The Gambia. Beyond her media work, Mrs. MacDouall-Gaye held the position of Board Chairperson for the Observer Newspaper Company, later becoming its Managing Director. She also served as a member of the advisory board at the Center for Conflict Management, Kennesaw State University, USA, and more recently, served as Chairperson of the GRTS Board of Directors. A passionate documentary writer/ producer/director, MacDouall-Gaye deeply values media as a tool for advancing development goals and inspiring change. She now serves as the Chairperson of the Information Commission.
